When to use it

Use when a plaintiff firm holds a significant-injury assessment under the Wrongs Act 1958 and a Medical Panel referral is likely or has been made. Do not use it for a WorkSafe impairment panel.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

The tool may index the documents the lawyer has selected, and the lawyer decides whether they go to the respondent or, after a request, to the Panel.

AI may

  • Assemble the index from the documents the lawyer has selected, with one page sequence.
  • Insert the pathway or forum block the lawyer has selected and remove the others.

AI must not

  • Must not state an impairment percentage, a diagnosis, or whether a statutory threshold is met.
  • Must not put health or wage records into a public or consumer tool.
  • Must not draft an affidavit, a witness statement or a statutory declaration.
  • Must not ask the Panel for a percentage.
  • Must not refer the medical question. Section 28LWE gives the referral to the respondent.
  • Must not send the index to the Panel unless the Panel has asked under section 28LZC.

The lawyer checks

  • The respondent's time under section 28LWE has been read, including the sections it names.
  • The question does not ask for a specific degree of impairment.
  • The index is addressed to the respondent unless a section 28LZC request has been made.

Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
