Terms of use

Terms of use

The AI Law Framework is free to read and free to connect. These terms say what it is, what it is not, and what we ask of you when you use it.

Last updated 25 October 2026.

What these terms cover

These terms apply when you use ailawframework.com, its MCP connectors (https://ailawframework.com/mcp and https://ailawframework.com/mcp/firm), its data API, and the plugins and app packages it offers for AI apps such as Claude, ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot. The site is operated from Australia by the operator named in the Privacy policy (“we”). By using any of them you agree to these terms.

The Privacy policy says what we collect and keep. It forms part of these terms.

The framework is not legal advice

The AI Law Framework is a method for deciding how AI may be used on a legal task and for recording the human checks, with a practice library of planning guidance for lawyers. It is not legal advice, and using it does not make us your lawyer or create a lawyer–client relationship.

It does not certify that an AI tool is safe or suitable, that a piece of work is correct, or that a time saving is real. Scores an AI proposes through the connectors are proposals for the responsible lawyer to confirm or change. Court rules, regulator guidance and the law change, and the library can lag behind them: check the current primary source before you rely on it. The responsible lawyer decides, checks and approves the work, and remains responsible for it.

Connectors and AI apps

The public connector is free and needs no sign-in. The AI app you connect it to, and its developer, are not ours: Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft, GitHub and others provide their apps under their own terms and privacy policies, and those govern what happens to your conversation. We do not control what an AI app does with the framework’s tools or its output.

Describe a task without client names or confidential facts where you can; the framework never needs them. The signed record that carries a task between steps stops the steps being skipped or altered, but the server cannot check that your AI reported your words faithfully, so read the work record before you rely on it.

We may limit how often the connectors and the data API can be called, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any of them, or any plugin or package, at any time.

Accounts and firm workspaces

Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us through Enquiries if you think someone else has used them. A firm’s owners and administrators decide who joins the firm’s workspace and which AI apps may read it, and are responsible for those choices.

What you or your firm upload stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide the service to you and your firm, and you confirm that you are allowed to upload it. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms.

Fair use

  • Do not use the site, the connectors or the data API for anything unlawful.
  • Do not try to get around sign-in, security, rate limits or the signed record checks, or to read another firm’s material.
  • Do not overload the service, or copy the site in bulk beyond what robots.txt and llms.txt allow.
  • Do not upload anything harmful, or anything you have no right to share.
  • Do not present the framework’s output as a certification, or as advice from us.

Our content, and using it

The site’s text, practice library, precedent summaries and design are ours, except where a page says a precedent is reproduced from an official source: that source’s licence applies to the reproduced text. You may read and use what is ours in your own work and within your firm, and quote it with a link back to this site. The framework’s skills, as published for Claude, Codex and Copilot, are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (opens in a new tab). The court rules, legislation, cases and guidance the library cites belong to their publishers.

No warranty, and limits on liability

The site, the connectors, the data API and the packages are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranty that they are accurate, complete, current, available or fit for a particular purpose, and we are not liable for any loss, including indirect or consequential loss, arising from using them or relying on them.

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where our liability for failing to meet such a guarantee can be limited, it is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page changes when we do, and using the site, a connector, the data API or a package after that means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law, and contact

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of New South Wales have jurisdiction. Questions about them go through Enquiries.
