When to use it

Use with the settlement advice letter, before the client accepts, and again when the final notices arrive. Every dollar is traced to a notice, an invoice or the deed. A blank is left blank.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

AI may add rows from invoices and statutory notices the lawyer has accepted, and total only those rows, in a firm-controlled tool; the lawyer checks every line before the client sees the statement.

AI may

  • Enter each invoice, notice and agreed cost figure in its own row with the document name and date
  • Total the rows the lawyer has marked as included
  • Flag a row that has an amount and no source document

AI must not

  • Must not estimate a Medicare charge, a preclusion repayment or an NDIS figure that is not on a notice or in the lawyer's written figure
  • Must not describe an estimate as the final net payment
  • Must not put the source notices into a public tool

The lawyer checks

  • The costs rows match the s 177 or s 312 disclosure given before execution
  • Each deduction names the notice, invoice or agreement it comes from
  • The net sum and the deed's payment clause describe the same money
  • Where a Queensland sanction is required, the standard-costs and indemnity-costs estimates required by Practice Direction 15 of 2018 are in the sanction material, not only in this statement
