Where this comes from

The official form is published by pi.nsw.gov.au; this page is a completion guide. Last checked on 2026-10-23.

When to use it

Use when an injured person, or someone representing them, lodges a motor accidents dispute in the Personal Injury Commission after a claim has been made to the insurer. Most applications are lodged in Pathway.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

The tool may index the insurer's decision and the documents for Pathway, and it writes nothing in a statement of the injured person's evidence and does not lodge the application.

AI may

  • Index the claim, the insurer's decision and the internal review outcome by date
  • Build a document list for the application from material already on the file
  • Flag a written statement so it can be checked against Procedural Direction PIC13

AI must not

  • Must not generate the content of a written statement, or rephrase the injured person's evidence, for use in the Commission
  • Must not write text that is lodged in Pathway
  • Must not enter material produced under compulsion, or material subject to a non-publication direction, into a generative tool unless paragraph 10 of PIC13 is met
  • Must not lodge the application

The lawyer checks

  • A claim has first been submitted to the insurer. Some disputes require an internal review before the Commission
  • The applicant is 18 or over, or the person lodging represents the injured person. Time limits may apply after the insurer's decision
  • Everything lodged is visible to all parties in Pathway
  • The applying-online page states a 500-page limit on supporting documents for certain initiating applications and replies, and links Procedural Direction PIC12. PIC12 was not opened for this guide
  • For a merit review, attach the approved schedule of earnings. That schedule has its own guide
  • PIC13 commenced on 1 January 2026 and applies to the Motor Accidents Division. A person must verify citations in submissions
  • Health, wage and other personal information stays in a firm-controlled tool. Check confidentiality under ASCR r 9 and APP 11, and whether any breach is notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
