Where this comes from

The official form is published by victimsofcrime.vic.gov.au; this page is a completion guide. Last checked on 2026-10-23.

When to use it

Use when an applicant wants an internal review of a Financial Assistance Scheme decision, a variation after a final decision, or a variation of a Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal award that has moved to the scheme. The applicant uses the portal. The webforms were not opened.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

The tool may index the decision and diary any review date the lawyer confirms; the applicant completes the portal form and the lawyer settles the reasons.

AI may

  • Index the decision letter and the documents it relied on
  • Note which of the three paths the instructions name: internal review, variation after a final FAS decision, or variation of a transitioned VOCAT award

AI must not

  • Must not write the reasons for review or variation
  • Must not invent a time limit. The templates page does not state one
  • Must not describe the webform's questions. The portal pages were not opened

The lawyer checks

  • Internal review is the webform the page links at fas.justice.vic.gov.au/fasportal/s/internal-review, and also the portal at fas.justice.vic.gov.au
  • A variation of FAS assistance is through the portal, and the page says it is available once a final decision has been received
  • A variation of a VOCAT award that has transitioned to the scheme is also through the portal
  • The lawyer checks the decision against the scheme's categories and limits before a review or variation is lodged
  • Health information stays in a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11, and whether any disclosure would be a notifiable breach under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
