Triage a Queensland injury enquiry across the compensation schemes
MaintainedLast reviewed
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the intake, list the Queensland paths the facts might open: a workers' compensation application, a motor accident notice, a NIISQ screen, or a PIPA notice. For each path, list the notice period from the section the lawyer names and the documents to request. Do not tell the enquirer that a claim exists.
- What the lawyer must review
- Decide eligibility. A generated triage is not advice that there is a claim.
- PIPA excludes a Motor Accident Insurance Act injury, chapter 5 work damages, and a dust-related condition.
- A serious motor injury on or after 1 July 2016 is also screened for NIISQ.
- Use a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11 and any notifiable breach.

The work product
Forum. Queensland intake: workers' compensation, motor accident insurance, NIISQ and PIPA
Produce. A scheme list with notice periods and documents to collect, marked as not advice.
Have ready. Intake note of where, when and how the injury happened; Employment status and vehicle details; Injury description; Any date a lawyer was already consulted.
Example of the limit. Illustrative example: The enquirer was hurt driving between a depot and a site. The list records both a possible work application and a possible motor accident notice, and leaves the scheme undecided.
Stop and hand it back when
- The output would be sent to the enquirer as a conclusion that they have a claim.
- The facts are too thin to name even a possible path.
