Where this comes from

The official form is published by hrc.act.gov.au; this page is a completion guide. Last checked on 2026-10-22.

When to use it

Use when a person injured emotionally or physically by a violent crime in the ACT applies as a primary victim. Do not use the related-victim, funeral, variation or extension form unless that is the application. The tool does not write the account of the crime.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

AI may check the application pack against the current form and list missing records. The lawyer writes any account of the violence and checks every form before it is lodged.

AI may

  • Check the pack against the current official form and list records the opened page says to include
  • Flag when a primary, family, related or extension form is being used for the wrong applicant
  • List the time limits, caps and contact details stated on the page that was opened

AI must not

  • Must not draft the account of the violence, the effect on the person, or any words that would be lodged in the application
  • Must not invent a fact, a date, a police report or a medical finding
  • Must not sign or lodge the application

The lawyer checks

  • The current primary victim file is downloaded and saved before it is completed, as the forms page instructs
  • The file name is not treated as a form number. The lawyer confirms the current file
  • Police-reporting rules, including the special reporting class on the financial assistance page, are checked for this applicant
  • The court's or tribunal's current index is checked before assuming a generative-AI practice direction applies. None was stated on the page opened for this guide.

Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
