When to use it
Use when a Victim Assist Queensland application or decision needs to be checked against the payment types the guide states for that victim category.
Used for these tasks
- Build the expenses and income loss schedule for a financial assistance claim
- Check a victims' scheme decision against the categories and limits
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
The tool may line the file's expenses up against the payment types on the guide, and the lawyer decides what is claimed and whether a figure is still current.
AI may
- List only the payment types the guide gives for the category the lawyer has confirmed.
- Enter the guide's figure as a ceiling to check, with the page date beside it.
- Separate recovery expenses from special assistance, distress, dependency and funeral payments.
- Note if the applicant is under 18 or has an appointed trustee, because the guide says payment then goes to the Queensland Public Trustee.
AI must not
- Do not invent bands inside the $3,000 to $15,000 special assistance range. The guide does not set them on this page.
- Do not define the difference between a less serious and a more serious witness. The guide uses both headings and does not define the line.
- Do not draft the victim's account, or the safety email to Victim Assist, from the guide's illustrations.
- Do not treat these figures as current without reading the guide again. They are the figures on the page last updated 4 August 2026.
The lawyer checks
- Re-read the payment section of the guide before any figure is used in a letter or an application.
- Confirm the category in the eligibility checklist before applying this table.
- For adverse impacts, confirm the guide's dates: a sexual offence after 19 December 1997, or domestic violence after 1 July 2017.
- If offender debt recovery is a safety issue, the client writes their own concern. The guide's examples are not the client's words.
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
