Where this comes from
The official form is published by cict.justice.wa.gov.au; this page is a completion guide. Last checked on 2026-10-18.
When to use it
Use when acting for a victim applying for compensation under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Act 2003 (WA).
Used for these tasks
- Prepare the application to a state victims support scheme
- Build the victims' claim eligibility and deadline register
- Build the expenses and income loss schedule for a financial assistance claim
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may index the police, medical and counselling records and build the losses schedule for the lawyer to check; the victim's statement of events and impact is taken by the lawyer in the victim's own words.
AI may
- Index police, court, medical and counselling records with dates and sources
- Build the losses schedule from invoices, receipts and Medicare or insurer rebate documents, for the lawyer to check
- Check the application and attachments are complete and list missing documents
AI must not
- Must not write the victim's statement of events or victim impact statement
- Must not decide eligibility or whether an extension of time should be sought
- Must not process the victim's records in a tool not approved for sensitive information
The lawyer checks
- Lodged through the eCourts Portal (solicitors must; emailed or posted versions from solicitors are returned)
- Within 3 years of the incident, or a written extension request with reasons lodged with a complete application
- Date, place and circumstances of the offence and injury, statement of events, victim impact statement and medical information supplied
- Losses supported by invoices, receipts and Medicare or insurer rebate documents
- Client told legal fees are not awarded as costs (reasonable medical report costs may be)
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
