When to use it

Use when a standard business sponsor is checking, or being asked to show, that it has met its obligations for a sponsored worker. Read the labour agreement if there is one.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

AI may fill the record from the sponsor's payroll and notification log; the practitioner decides whether an obligation was met and what is sent to the Department.

AI may

  • Build the worker table and the 28-day notification log from the sponsor's records
  • Flag a cost that the page says the sponsor must not transfer to the sponsored person or their sponsored family
  • List the travel-cost request and whether it was paid within 30 days

AI must not

  • Must not advise that a sanction will or will not be imposed
  • Must not treat the infringement and civil penalty figures as anything other than the 'up to' amounts on the page last updated 7 October 2026
  • Must not draft a notification that is sent to the Department unless the practitioner has settled it

The lawyer checks

  • Each notifiable event is matched to the 28-day rule that applies to that type of sponsor
  • The worker is still in the nominated occupation, under a written contract, and has not been supplied to an unrelated business
  • Equivalent terms are checked only where annual earnings are under AUD250,000, unless the labour agreement says otherwise
  • Recruitment and sponsorship costs have not been charged to the worker, and any travel-cost request was paid once, within 30 days
