Where this comes from

The official form is published by art.gov.au; this page is a completion guide. Last checked on 2026-10-18.

When to use it

Use when acting for an applicant in an immigration-related review in the Administrative Review Tribunal and the Tribunal must be told who the representative or authorised recipient is, or of a change.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

AI may check the MR5 details against the client file and the Tribunal case number; the lawyer checks each form and the client's choice of representative, recipient and email consent.

AI may

  • Check the applicant's name, date of birth and Tribunal case file number against the file
  • Check the representative's practising certificate or MARN details are entered correctly

AI must not

  • Must not tick the appointment box or the email consent for the client
  • Must not sign or lodge the form

The lawyer checks

  • Only one box ticked: representative and authorised recipient, or authorised recipient only
  • Representative is a person who may give immigration assistance (and, if charging, is a registered migration agent or Australian lawyer with a practising certificate)
  • Email consent discussed with the client, including the security risks the form notes
  • Tribunal told immediately of any change (MR6 for contact details)

Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
