Where this comes from
The official form is published by immi.homeaffairs.gov.au; this page is a completion guide. Last checked on 2026-10-18.
When to use it
Use when a visa applicant's circumstances change after lodgment in a way that affects any answer in the application (for example address, relationship, family members, employment or character matters), before the visa is granted or before immigration clearance.
Used for these tasks
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may compare the lodged application's answers with the client's new information and list the answers affected; the lawyer or agent decides what must be notified and checks every answer in each form, and the client signs the declaration.
AI may
- Compare each answer in the lodged application with the client's new information and list the answers that may have changed
- Check the completed form answers every question, as the form requires
- Flag where the change looks like an earlier incorrect answer (Form 1023) rather than a change in circumstances
AI must not
- Must not decide whether a change must be notified or whether an earlier answer was incorrect
- Must not describe the new circumstances in words the client has not confirmed
- Must not put identity, health or character information into a tool the client has not consented to
The lawyer checks
- The change affects an answer in the application and the visa has not been granted (onshore) or the person has not been immigration cleared (offshore)
- Form 1022 is right, not Form 1023 (incorrect answers)
- Every question answered; the client has read the declaration that the information is true and correct
- Form sent to the office handling the application, or the office responsible for the matter
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
