When to use it

Use when acting for a person who asks the State Coroner to set aside all or some of a Queensland coroner's findings about a death.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

The tool may list the findings and any later documents the lawyer has marked, and it writes nothing in the application.

AI may

  • List the findings, their date, and any later document the lawyer has marked as possible new evidence

AI must not

  • Must not write the reasons or describe evidence as new evidence
  • Must not decide whether section 50(4) is met
  • Must not lodge the application

The lawyer checks

  • Form 21, addressed to the State Coroner
  • The findings are identified, and the application says whether all or some are to be set aside
  • The reasons meet the two grounds printed on the form, as the lawyer advises
  • The applicant signs

Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
