When to use it
Use when a Queensland death has been reported to the coroner and the family, or another person with sufficient interest, wants an internal examination limited, avoided, or explained before the coroner orders it.
Used for these tasks
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
The tool may assemble the concern record from the file, and the lawyer checks it before anyone sends it.
AI may
- List the death, the family contact, and the concern about an internal examination in the family's words.
- Record which of the court's named channels was used: police, the coroner's office, the coronial counsellors, or the coronial nurses.
- Record whether a copy of an internal autopsy order was received.
- Record the family's view on organ retention if a pathologist has recommended it.
AI must not
- Do not send this checklist to the court as if it were the objection.
- Do not describe the Supreme Court review procedure. The medical examinations page links a courts page that was not opened.
- Do not state what the Coroners Act 2003 (Qld) requires. That Act was not opened.
- Do not promise when the body will be released or when the autopsy report will be finished.
The lawyer checks
- Confirm the death is a Queensland coronial matter and who is raising the concern.
- Confirm the concern was raised as soon as possible, through a channel the page names.
- If an internal autopsy is ordered, confirm the family received a copy of the order and whether a Supreme Court review is being considered.
- Read the current medical examinations page before the concern is sent.
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
