When to use it

Use when acting for a family member or another person who asks the coroner investigating a death in Queensland to hold an inquest.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

The tool may list the family's concerns against the documents already held, and it writes nothing in the application that is lodged.

AI may

  • List the documents held about the death and the concerns the lawyer has marked for the application

AI must not

  • Must not write the reasons, the relationship, or any other part of the application
  • Must not decide whether an inquest is in the public interest
  • Must not lodge the application

The lawyer checks

  • Form 15 version 2, dated 2 November 2009 on the form
  • The applicant signs, and the relationship is stated if there is one
  • The reasons address the public interest, in the lawyer's words
  • The form's note of a decision within 6 months, or a longer period the coroner considers necessary

Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
