When to use it
Use when findings with recommendations directed to the client are delivered. For a NSW Minister or government agency, follow Premier's Memorandum M2009-12. Private organisations are not bound by the Memorandum but a clear public response is good practice and may be scrutinised later.
Used for these tasks
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may tabulate the recommendations, map them to the organisation's policies and build the implementation register; the organisation decides its position on each recommendation and the lawyer settles the letter.
AI may
- Tabulate each recommendation directed to the client with its exact wording
- Map each to the relevant policies, owners and existing projects from documents supplied
- Track implementation dates and draft update letters
AI must not
- Must not state that a recommendation is accepted, rejected or implemented without the organisation's decision and evidence
- Must not paraphrase a recommendation in a way that changes its meaning
The lawyer checks
- Position on each recommendation approved by the right decision maker
- Statements about implementation are accurate and evidenced
- For a NSW agency, the response reaches the Attorney General within six months of receipt
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
