When to use it
Use when Generative AI has been used to prepare an application for review, a statement of facts, issues and contentions, written submissions, a chronology, or country information for the Administrative Review Tribunal.
Used for these tasks
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may list each authority and each factual sentence for the lawyer to open. The lawyer decides whether the paragraph 3.6 checks are met. The live submission task is Yellow.
AI may
- List citations, quotes and external sources with a blank for the location where each was found
- List chronology dates for the lawyer to compare with the documents
AI must not
- Must not mark a citation, quote or country-information source as checked
- Must not be the only verification of its own output. Paragraph 2.4(f) forbids that
- Must not draft the outcome sought or the legal argument
The lawyer checks
- Each paragraph 3.6 item that applies to the document has been checked by the named person
- Legal authorities exist and support the proposition
- Evidence cited is or will be in the materials, and the references are accurate
- Country information and other external sources can be located and reviewed
- The other practice directions named in the note to paragraph 3.6 are opened if they apply. They were not opened
