Screen a Queensland motor accident for NIISQ lifetime treatment, care and support

Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the accident and injury papers, record the NIISQ gates on the agency pages and do not decide eligibility. Record whether the accident was in Queensland on or after 1 July 2016, whether the injury is one of the five types the page names, and which criterion on the eligibility page matches the type the lawyer names. Acceptance, if it happens, is interim for two years.
- What the lawyer must review
- The lawyer decides eligibility against the Act, the Regulation and the criteria page.
- Copy only the criterion for the injury type the lawyer names.
- Interim participation is two years, then a lifetime review. Do not call it lifetime at the start.
- Use a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11 and any notifiable breach.

The work product
Forum. National Injury Insurance Scheme, Queensland, for a motor accident in Queensland
Produce. A gate table for the lawyer's eligibility decision, not an application.
Have ready. Accident date and place; Injury diagnosis and imaging; Age, where a child criterion may apply; Any CTP claim already lodged.
Example of the limit. Illustrative example: The papers describe a brain injury after a Queensland collision in 2024. The table records the date gate and points to the traumatic brain injury criteria. It does not say the person is eligible.
Stop and hand it back when
- The accident was before 1 July 2016 or was not in Queensland.
- The injury type is not one of the five types on the page.

Health, wage and benefit records stay in a firm-controlled tool. Check ASCR r 9, APP 11, and whether a disclosure is notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
The apply page says NIISQ funds necessary and reasonable treatment, care and support. A CTP insurer may apply for the injured person. The eligibility page sets out the functional measures, including FIM or WeeFIM where the injury type requires them.
The Civil Liability Act table of provisions includes s 52B, titled as a restriction on damages for scheme participants. The section text was not opened. The lawyer reads it before care damages are claimed for a participant.
