Record who may help a child apply for victims assistance, and where the money is held
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the age documents and any authority already on the file, record the applicant's date of birth, whether a parent, guardian or other adult is named, and whether a trustee is already appointed. Do not decide who may apply and do not complete the form.
- What the lawyer must review
- The lawyer decides who may apply for the child and where the payment must be sent.
- Check the date of birth against a document before treating the applicant as under 18.
- Do not name a counsellor or other treating provider as the representative unless the page allows it.
- Use a firm-controlled tool for health records. ASCR r 9, APP 11 and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) apply.

Who does what
| Role | What they do |
|---|---|
| Assistance | Do not begin AI assistance until the responsible lawyer has defined and confirmed its permitted scope. |
| Lawyer | Set the scope, supervise the work closely, verify every part relied on, resolve omissions and exceptions, and approve the exact output. |
Checklist
- Check the date of birth against the identification document, not the intake note alone.
- Confirm the named adult is a person the current page allows, and is not a treating provider where the page forbids that.
- Record the payment destination the page names for a person under 18, and do not nominate another account.
- If the child turns 18 during the application, ask the lawyer whether the authority continues.
