Where this comes from
The official form is published by nt.gov.au; this page is a completion guide. Last checked on 2026-10-22.
When to use it
Use when a Northern Territory claim is for goods to be returned or replaced, or for work and goods, and this is the statement of claim on the small-claims page. A claim up to $25,000 may be taken to NTCAT. These files are submitted to the Local Court. The lawyer checks the forum, and checks Local Court Form 7A before filing a second statement of claim. The tool does not write the claim or the declaration of service.
Used for these tasks
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may check that this goods file is the one on the matter and list the page's filing and service steps. The lawyer writes the statement of claim and the declaration of service.
AI may
- Check the file name statement-of-claim-for-work-and-goods against the PDF or DOCX on the file
- List the page's steps: addresses, Local Court filing, the fee, service, and the 28-day declaration of service
- Flag the debt-or-damages form and the motor-vehicle collision form, which are different files
AI must not
- Must not draft the statement of claim or any words that would be lodged in it
- Must not draft the declaration of service. If that declaration is a statutory declaration or an affidavit, the tool writes nothing in it
- Must not call this file an NTCAT form or Local Court Form 7A. The page does not say that
- Must not invent a fee or a form number
- Must not sign or lodge the claim
The lawyer checks
- The forum is checked. The page says a claim up to $25,000 can go to NTCAT, and these statement-of-claim files are submitted to the Local Court
- Local Court Form 7A has a separate guide at a different address. This page does not say these files are Form 7A
- The letter of demand for faulty goods, on this page, gives 14 days. A demand letter is not this form
- The claimant's address and the defendant's address are on the claim. A business name can be checked on the ASIC page the site links
- The court's or tribunal's current index is checked before assuming a generative-AI practice direction applies. None was stated on the page opened for this guide.
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
