Horticulture piecework records checklist
A checklist of what a Horticulture Award piecework record must contain, when it is given, and the two extra records the Fair Work page requires. It is not the signed record, and it does not set the piece rate.

When to use it
Use when an employer is checking piecework records for workers under the Horticulture Award on or after the first pay period starting on or after 28 April 2022. Do not use it for the Wine Award, or as the record the employer signs.
Used for these tasks
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may check a record against the five contents on the Fair Work page and quote the required statement. It must not sign the record, set the piece rate, or decide the classification.
AI may
- Compare a draft record with the date, task, piece rate, hourly rate and the required statement
- Note whether the record was given before the work started and is signed by the employer
- List the two extra records: a copy of each piecework record given, and hours worked with the piece rate then applying
AI must not
- Must not calculate the piece rate, or state the average-productivity rule as a rule that was read
- Must not sign the record or put the employer's signature on it
- Must not apply this checklist to the Wine Industry Award. That page was not opened
- Must not use a piecework agreement for work in a pay period starting on or after 28 April 2022
The lawyer checks
- The worker is under the Horticulture Award, not another award
- The hourly rate is the classification rate, and includes the 25 per cent casual loading where the worker is casual
- A change of rate is made by a new record given before the new rate is used
- The general employee-record obligations, which are on a page that was not opened, are checked separately
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
