No-advice notice for a client-facing tool (United States)
A fixed notice that a client-facing tool is not a lawyer, does not give legal advice, and does not create a client-lawyer relationship. The firm approves the words once. The tool does not vary them.

When to use it
Use on a firm or legal-aid site, chatbot or intake flow that a person who is not yet a client can use. Do not use it to bless a tool that answers legal questions in the user's situation. That tool needs a separate decision.
Used for these tasks
- Review a client-facing chatbot or intake script against the no-advice line
- Review public self-help content for accuracy and the advice line
- Build an escalation matrix for a client-facing tool
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
Once a lawyer has approved this notice for a named tool, a system may display that approved text with the firm name and tool name filled in. It may not rewrite the notice for a user.
AI may
- Insert the approved firm name, tool name and contact method into the approved notice
- Show the notice before the first question and keep it reachable from every screen of the tool
AI must not
- Must not change the no-advice sentences to fit a user's question
- Must not add a legal conclusion, a prediction, or a statement that a lawyer has reviewed the user's situation
- Must not say a client-lawyer relationship exists
The lawyer checks
- The approved text matches this notice and names the real tool
- The tool cannot answer a user's legal question in the user's own facts, or a lawyer reviews any such answer before it is shown
- A path to a person is stated, and the notice is visible without an extra account
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
