When to use it
Use when checking whether possession of a sick, injured or orphaned protected animal for rehabilitation needs a New South Wales licence, or when listing the sample conditions against a licence already held. The licence itself prevails where it differs.
Used for these tasks
- Check whether rehabilitating a protected animal needs a rehabilitation licence
- List the conditions on a wildlife rehabilitation licence
- Check whether moving a native animal across a border needs a wildlife licence
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may list the sample conditions from the wildlife rehabilitation page against the animals named on the licence; the lawyer checks the licence, because the page says conditions may differ.
AI may
- Record whether the person is a registered veterinarian or holds a biodiversity conservation licence
- List the sample conditions that match the animals and the activities on the file
- Note the 30 September reporting date and the interstate-movement limits where a movement is proposed
AI must not
- Must not treat the sample conditions as the conditions of this licence
- Must not say a person may rehabilitate an animal without a licence, other than a registered veterinarian as the page states
- Must not fill in the application form. It was not opened
The lawyer checks
- The animal is a protected animal, and the purpose is rehabilitation of a sick, injured or orphaned animal
- The conditions on the issued licence are the ones that bind. Section 2.14 makes a breach an offence
- An interstate movement meets condition 13, including the other place's import or export requirements, which were not opened
- A reptile or possum catch-and-release uses the limits in conditions 16 and 17 only if the licence includes them
