Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the death record and the relationship documents the lawyer marks, list each family applicant, the relationship the document states, and the recognition amount printed for that description. Do not choose the relationship and do not decide that a living-together clause is satisfied.
- What the lawyer must review
- Decide which family description applies, and apply the living-together clause as written
- Do not read the 2-year words into the amount list. The list does not repeat them.
- Do not treat a printed amount as a promise that it will be paid.
- Use a firm-controlled tool for health records. ASCR r 9, APP 11 and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) apply.

The work product
Forum. New South Wales Victims Support Scheme, family recognition payments
Produce. A relationship table set against the published family recognition amounts, for the lawyer to settle.
Have ready. Death record; Relationship documents the lawyer marks; Current recognition-payment page.
Example of the limit. Illustrative example: A document describes the applicant as a current spouse. The table places $7,500 beside that label and copies the eligibility sentence about living together for at least 2 years. It does not decide that the sentence is satisfied.
Stop and hand it back when
- The relationship is only a description given in conference.
- The applicant is a primary victim, so the family amounts do not apply.

Checklist
- The recognition page prints $15,000 for a financially dependent family victim of homicide, or a child of the homicide victim who was under 18 at the death.
- It prints $7,500 for a parent, step-parent or guardian, a current spouse, or a de facto partner of a homicide victim.
- The eligibility list says a parent, step-parent, guardian, current spouse or current de facto partner of a homicide victim who had lived with them for at least 2 years. The lawyer applies that clause as written. The amount list does not repeat those words.
- A separate bullet covers a financially dependent family victim, and a child under 18 at the death. Do not add the 2-year words to those bullets unless the lawyer reads them that way.

Family victims of homicide apply within 2 years from the date the death was established as a homicide, or within 2 years of turning 18 if they were a child then. This row is the amount, not that period.
The page says support may be reduced under the factors it states for section 44, including behaviour of the deceased that contributed to the death, and money already received from another source. The section text was not opened.
Health records stay in a firm-controlled tool. ASCR r 9 and APP 11 apply, and a breach may be notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
