Map a Victorian family claim onto the Financial Assistance Scheme distress amounts

Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the death record and the relationship documents the lawyer marks, list each family applicant, the relationship the document states, and the distress amount printed for that relationship. Do not choose the relationship and do not write the application.
- What the lawyer must review
- Decide who is a related victim and which distress band applies
- Check each relationship against a document, not a description given in conference
- Do not treat a printed band as the amount that will be paid. Character can change it.
- Use a firm-controlled tool for health records. ASCR r 9, APP 11 and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) apply.

The work product
Forum. Victorian Financial Assistance Scheme, related-victim distress
Produce. A relationship table set against the published distress amounts, for the lawyer to settle.
Have ready. Death record; Relationship documents the lawyer marks; Current guideline 18.4.
Example of the limit. Illustrative example: A document describes the applicant as a sibling. The table places $20,000 beside that label and notes that the scheme may pay more. It does not say $20,000 will be paid.
Stop and hand it back when
- The relationship is only a description given in conference, with no document.
- The file is a primary-victim claim, so the related-victim bands do not apply.

Checklist
- Guideline 18.4 prints $20,000 for a spouse or domestic partner, a child or step-child, a parent, guardian or step-parent, and a sibling or step-sibling.
- The same guideline prints $6,500 for an intimate personal relationship, any other close family member, or a non-child financial dependant.
- The applicant must be a related victim with a genuine personal relationship at the death. The scheme may pay more for the particular distress.
- For a secondary or related victim, guideline 3.1 takes age from the applicant, not from the primary victim. Do not put that time rule into the amount row.

The guideline says the character of the primary victim or the related victim may affect the distress payment. The row does not decide character.
There is no overall pool on the page. Each amount is the figure printed for that relationship.
Health records stay in a firm-controlled tool. ASCR r 9 and APP 11 apply, and a breach may be notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
