How AI is used
From the practice note, list the short-form items for a County Court General List order, or the standard timetable for a Supreme Court list proceeding. The tool does not write the orders.
What the lawyer must review
  • The lawyer writes the short-form orders and signs them.
  • State whether the trial is by judge alone or by jury, and the estimated duration.
  • Do not assume a first directions hearing. These Supreme Court personal injury lists do not routinely have one.
  • Do not use this version for a Supreme Court list whose practice note was not opened.

Checklist

  1. Practice Note SC CL 3: the Court does not routinely hold a first directions hearing. On a notice of appearance it makes standard orders. Other than an expedited case, the trial is expected within 12 to 14 months of the notices of appearance, and the mediation about two to three months before trial.
  2. County Court General List paragraph 22.4: short-form consent orders state whether the trial is before a judge alone or a jury, and the estimated duration.
  3. The Court then allocates the date, usually 12 months from the order, and fills the other dates.
  4. A variation needs an explanation and proposed orders.
