When to use it

Use when preparing the corporation's annual reports to the Registrar, or when a governance checklist needs the current reporting band. It does not lodge the report.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

AI may match the registered size and the income figure the lawyer enters to the published report row, and list empty general-report fields.

AI may

  • Select the row of the published table that matches the size and income band entered by the lawyer
  • List general-report fields that are still blank
  • Flag a member list that is not dated 30 June

AI must not

  • Must not decide the corporation's size or its consolidated gross operating income
  • Must not describe the alternative-reporting rules for corporations whose income is more than 90 per cent government grants
  • Must not sign the declaration or lodge the report

The lawyer checks

  • Registered size is taken from the public register, not from a calculation done for the first time in this checklist
  • The income figure is consolidated gross operating income for the year, and it is placed in the band the table uses
  • A starred financial report or audit report is not treated as required until the alternative-reporting page is read
  • The declaration is made by a director, by the secretary of a large corporation, or by a person whose authority comes from a directors' resolution

Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
