When to use it

Use before a practitioner assumes that the ACT Supreme Court or the NT Supreme Court has, or does not have, a generative AI practice direction. Record the date the list is opened again. This checklist does not clear a filing.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

AI may record the date a list was opened and the titles that were read. The lawyer decides whether any title, or any PDF that was not opened, bears on the filing.

AI may

  • Record the date and the URL of the list that was opened
  • Copy the titles that were actually visible on that page

AI must not

  • Must not state that the ACT or the NT has no generative AI requirement
  • Must not treat an unopened PDF, including an expert-evidence direction, as silent on AI
  • Must not apply a New South Wales, Federal Court or Tasmanian direction to an ACT or NT proceeding because these lists were silent

The lawyer checks

  • The ACT practice notes page, notices to practitioners, archived directions, Court of Appeal page and Magistrates Court list are checked if the matter needs them. They were not opened
  • The NT expired and revoked list is checked if an older direction might still matter. It was not opened
  • Any expert-evidence direction that will be relied on is opened. The NT Expert Reports direction of 2015 and Expert Evidence direction of 2009 were not opened
