How AI is used
List citizenship, the benefit type, the date the person left the United States, and any later return, using only the dates the lawyer supplies.
What the lawyer must review
The Social Security payments-abroad page says the agency generally cannot pay Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance to noncitizens after their sixth calendar month outside the United States, subject to exceptions on that page. Absence is not counted until the person has been outside for 30 days in a row, and a return for any part of one day before those 30 days stops the count. The page on communicating changes says to report leaving the United States for more than 30 days. That page does not state the six-month rule. The payments-abroad page that was opened does not state an SSI rule.
