The work product
Forum. Victoria. Risk-assessed roles for registered NDIS providers under the Victorian worker-screening page.
Produce. A note of the provider's registration and which risk-assessed category the description matches, with the start decision left to the lawyer.
Have ready. The position description; Whether the provider is a registered NDIS provider; Any current clearance or pending application.
Example of the limit. Illustrative example: The provider is registered and the duties include building a rapport with participants as an ordinary part of the role. The note records that description against the more-than-incidental-contact category. It does not say the worker may start before a clearance.
Stop and hand it back when
- The provider's registration status is unknown.
- The note would tell the provider the worker may start while a first check is pending.

Checklist
- The requirement, as the page states it, is for individuals starting work for a registered NDIS provider in a risk-assessed role. A volunteer, a worker engaged through a labour-hire agency, and a sole trader are included where the role is risk-assessed.
- A risk-assessed role is a key-personnel role as the page describes it, a role that involves direct delivery of specified supports or services, or a role likely to require more than incidental contact. More than incidental contact includes physical touch, building a rapport as an ordinary part of the duties, or contact with multiple people with disability in the delivery of a specialist support or in specialist disability accommodation.
- No clearance, no start: a person is prohibited from being employed or otherwise engaged by a registered provider in a risk-assessed role unless the person has a clearance or is subject to a transitional arrangement. A person must not work while a first check is being decided.
- The page allows work during an application made under another screening law only if that application is not finally decided or withdrawn and that law permits the person to work. A renewal after a five-year expiry has its own conditions, including no interim exclusion. The lawyer checks every condition.

The opened page does not state a screening rule for an unregistered provider or for a self-managed participant's choice. Do not extend the registered-provider rule to them.
The NDIS check does not replace a Working with Children clearance. The page's offence table cites section 118(1) of the Worker Screening Act 2020. That section text was not opened.
