The NDIS Commission says an NDIS worker screening check is required for an employee, volunteer, contractor or student of a registered provider in a risk-assessed role or a key personnel role, or where the registered or unregistered provider has decided that its workers will be screened, and for some sole traders. The check is done by the worker screening unit where the person lives.
Queensland Disability Worker Screening says a person working or volunteering with a registered NDIS provider or a state-funded disability provider may need a clearance. If a clearance is required, the person cannot start until it is issued. The employer must verify the engagement before the application is valid.
