Build a creditor schedule from the books and the proofs of claim
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the schedules and the proofs the lawyer designates, list each creditor, the amount asserted, whether a writing is attached, and whether the proof is signed by the creditor or the creditor’s agent.
- What the lawyer must review
- A proof of claim is a written statement of the creditor’s claim and must substantially conform to Official Form 410 (Federal Rule of Bankruptcy Procedure 3001(a)). Only a creditor or the creditor’s agent may sign it, except as Rules 3004 and 3005 provide (Rule 3001(b)). If the claim is based on a writing, a copy is filed with the proof, with the exceptions in Rule 3001(c). The lawyer completes the form. The tool does not sign it and does not write any declaration on it. Distribution of estate property in a chapter 7 case follows 11 U.S.C. § 726, which is a different step from listing the claims.
