How AI is used
Draft the charge narrative, or the employer's response, from the chronology and the documents the lawyer marks as usable.
What the lawyer must review
42 U.S.C. § 2000e-3 makes it an unlawful employment practice to discriminate against an employee or applicant for making charges, testifying, assisting or participating in a proceeding under Title VII. The EEOC says a charge is a signed statement, and that the laws it enforces other than the Equal Pay Act require a charge before a lawsuit. In general a charge is filed within 180 days, extended to 300 days if a state or local agency enforces a law on the same basis. For age, the 300-day extension applies only if a state law and a state agency cover age discrimination. Federal employees use a different process and generally must contact an agency EEO counselor within 45 days. You check every sentence before the charge is signed, and you confirm the deadline for this charge.
