How AI is used
From the group papers, record whether the group is described as a labor, agricultural, or horticultural organization, whether it was instituted for mutual help, whether it has capital stock, whether it is conducted for profit, and the conduct the file says the members will carry out. Do not decide that the antitrust laws do not apply, and do not prepare a notice to a commission.
What the lawyer must review
The lawyer decides whether 15 USC 17 reaches the organization and the conduct. The section says the labor of a human being is not a commodity or article of commerce. Nothing contained in the antitrust laws shall be construed to forbid the existence and operation of labor, agricultural, or horticultural organizations, instituted for the purposes of mutual help, and not having capital stock or conducted for profit, or to forbid or restrain individual members of such organizations from lawfully carrying out the legitimate objects thereof. Nor shall such organizations, or the members thereof, be held or construed to be illegal combinations or conspiracies in restraint of trade, under the antitrust laws. The antitrust laws referred to are defined in section 12 of title 15, which was not opened. Section 1 of the Sherman Act, 15 USC 1, declares illegal every contract, combination in the form of trust or otherwise, or conspiracy, in restraint of trade or commerce among the several States, or with foreign nations, and makes the offense a felony. The penalty in the opened text is a fine not exceeding $100,000,000 for a corporation, or, for any other person, $1,000,000, or imprisonment not exceeding 10 years, or both. These two sections do not create a form of notice or a class exemption to file. The lawyer decides whether the conduct is the lawful carrying out of the organization's legitimate objects.
