| Assistance | From the family and kin information the client and the department have provided and from the carer assessment records, assemble a table of each placement option with its relationship, assessment status, the sibling and schooling consequence and the gaps in what has been assessed, against the statutory hierarchy the lawyer has set out. |

Checklist
- Confirm every kin option the client has raised appears in the table, including the options the department has already excluded, with the reason it gave.
- Check each excluded option against the record: whether it was assessed at all, by whom, on what material, and whether the parent or the kin carer was asked.
- Check the sibling placement position for each option and record the effect on contact between the siblings.
- For an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander child, confirm the placement principle has been applied as a hierarchy with recorded consultation, and that the table is not treated as a substitute for consultation with the child's family and community.
- Keep carer identities, placement addresses and carer assessment details out of any version of the table that goes outside the firm.
