Test the department's grounds and particulars against its own record
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Working from the application, the grounds and particulars, the caseworker's affidavit and the chronology the lawyer has settled, assemble under the lawyer's direction a table lining each pleaded ground up against the record entries cited for it, and list every assertion for which no source appears in the record.
- What the lawyer must review
- The lawyer decides what is in issue, what is conceded and what is contested, and checks every row to its source page before the table drives a position at the first mention or at establishment.

Who does what
| Role | What they do |
|---|---|
| Assistance | Working from the application, the grounds and particulars, the caseworker's affidavit and the chronology the lawyer has settled, assemble under the lawyer's direction a table lining each pleaded ground up against the record entries cited for it, and list every assertion for which no source appears in the record. |
| Lawyer | Set the scope, supervise the work closely, verify every part relied on, resolve omissions and exceptions, and approve the exact output. |
Checklist
- Read the application and identify the exact order sought, its proposed duration and the statutory ground pleaded for it, rather than the department's narrative summary.
- Confirm every particular is traced to a record entry and a page, and mark the particulars supported only by the caseworker's assertion or by an unsourced report.
- Take the client's instructions on each particular and record the dispute in the client's own terms, without putting the client's account through the tool.
- Separate the entries that bear on the interim stage — current safety, the proposed interim placement, interim contact — from those that go only to establishment.
- Confirm the table is built to the civil standard and to the court's evidence position in care proceedings, not to a criminal standard or an admissibility argument.
