Build the confidential-information and disclosure register for the care file
Key facts
- Human involvement
- GreenLawyer review
- How AI is used
- Populate the firm’s validated register template from the file: each protected item (carer and placement addresses, a parent’s refuge or new address, school details, the reporter’s identity or anything from which it could be deduced, clinic and health information), where it appears in the record, who may and may not receive it, and the order, statute or instruction that protects it.
- What the lawyer must review
- The lawyer confirms every protected item and its source, decides who may receive each one on the client’s instructions and the orders in force, and checks that the register itself is held only in the matter file and never sent to another party. Safety of the client, the carers and the child is the purpose of the register, so a missing item is treated as an error, not an omission.

Checklist
- Before anything is relied on, confirm the material may lawfully go into the tool at all (approved tool, no retention or training), that no reporter identity or protected address has been exposed, and that the child cannot be identified from the output.
- Check each register entry against the document it was taken from and against the orders in force on the date of the check.
- Confirm the reporter-identity entries cover indirect identifiers (role, timing, relationship), not only names.
- Confirm the register is stored only in the matter file and excluded from any document set sent to another party or an expert.
