Build a cargo-claim notice and suit-time table
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the bill and the delivery record, propose rows for the notice date and the one-year suit date with the document each date comes from. Mark every date as unchecked.
- What the lawyer must review
- The COGSA note to 46 USC section 30701 discharges the carrier and the ship from all liability for loss or damage unless suit is brought within one year after delivery or the date the goods should have been delivered. Written notice is due before or at removal, or within three days if the damage is not apparent. Lack of notice does not remove the one-year suit. You adopt or reject every date. A wrong date in this table is the advice the client will use. 28 USC section 1333 is the admiralty jurisdiction for the suit, saving to suitors their other remedies. Opinion 512: do not accept a generated date.
