Log competitor contacts for a clean-team review
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Log the date, the people, the firms and the topic stated in the notes of each competitor contact. Write no conclusion about whether the contact was lawful.
- What the lawyer must review
- Sherman Act § 1 is the statute on contracts, combinations and conspiracies in restraint of trade. A log of who met is not a conclusion that the meeting restrained trade. The January 2025 FTC and DOJ worker guidelines say firms can compete for workers even when they do not sell the same product, and that the agencies look at substance rather than the form of a protocol. Those guidelines are not a judgment in this matter. Opinion 512 and Model Rule 1.6: do not put the notes into a public tool. You decide what, if anything, to tell the client about the contacts.
