Record an aviation infringement notice without computing a penalty
Key facts
- Human involvement
- RedLawyer-led
- How AI is used
- Record the notice number, the date, the amount if the notice prints one, and the facts the notice alleges. Do not calculate a penalty and do not write a response.
- What the lawyer must review
- You write any response, and you open the statute the notice cites. No infringement-notice statute was opened. Section 107.51(a) says the groundspeed of a small unmanned aircraft may not exceed 87 knots (100 miles per hour). Section 107.51(b) says the altitude cannot be higher than 400 feet above ground level unless the aircraft is flown within a 400-foot radius of a structure and does not fly higher than 400 feet above the structure's immediate uppermost limit. Those sentences do not state a dollar penalty. You do not turn a limit into a fine. Model Rule 3.3 applies to the response. The amount, if any, is the figure printed on the notice.
