When to use it
Use when a credit provider or a credit reporting body receives a request to correct credit information. Section numbers are the ones the OAIC page cites. The complaint process is recorded separately and is not this request.
Used for these tasks
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may calculate the thirtieth day from the request date and may list the other bodies named in the file. The principal decides whether the information is wrong and whether to correct it.
AI may
- Insert the request date and the date 30 days later
- List the other credit providers or credit reporting bodies named in the request
AI must not
- Must not decide that information is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading
- Must not draft the notice of correction or refusal
- Must not tell the individual to apply to a different body
The lawyer checks
- The body first approached handles the request
- The 30 days are treated as a maximum, and consultation or internal dispute resolution is not used as a reason to miss them
- Notice of a correction or a refusal goes to the individual, and the page's reading of CR Code paragraph 20.7 is five business days from the decision
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
