Prepare a will from the client's signed instructions
Key facts
- Human involvement
- RedLawyer-led
- How AI is used
- Arrange the instructions into a checklist of who takes what, who is named as executor, and what is left blank. Write no dispositive clause and no execution block.
- What the lawyer must review
- You write the will. If California law applies, Probate Code § 6110 requires a writing signed by the testator (or a permitted substitute) and, unless § 6110(c)(2) is later proved, two witnesses who were present at the same time and who understand the instrument is the testator's will. Section 6100.5 states when an individual is not mentally competent to make a will. Opinion 512: you do not leave the will to the tool. The client signs your text.
