Assemble the papers for a remodel or withdrawal termination notice
Key facts
- Human involvement
- RedLawyer-led
- How AI is used
- List the ground the draft notice names, whether a permit or a signed abatement contract is in the pack, and whether the draft contains a relocation amount and a date for paying it. Write no sentence of the notice.
- What the lawyer must review
- Civil Code § 1946.2 lists no-fault grounds that include withdrawal from the rental market and intent to demolish or substantially remodel. A remodel notice must include the statement the section sets out, a description of the work, and the permit, or the signed hazardous-material contract where no permit is required. Cosmetic work is not a substantial remodel. No-fault termination requires relocation assistance or a rent waiver equal to one month's rent, with assistance within 15 calendar days of service, and the notice must say so. Failure to comply renders the notice void. A sale is not itself one of the grounds read in the section. You write the notice.
