Check the citations in a planning or environmental court paper
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- List each citation in the draft, the proposition the draft attaches to it, and a blank for whether you have opened that authority. Do not rewrite the paper.
- What the lawyer must review
- Rule 11 requires that a filing be signed after an inquiry reasonable in the circumstances, that the legal contentions be warranted, and that the factual contentions have evidentiary support. Opinion 512 requires the lawyer to verify generative output, including citations. You open every authority before the paper is filed. A citation the tool cannot match is not removed by the tool. You decide.
