Checklist

  1. The WorkSafe page says the impairment benefit is separate from any payment for lost income and from medical expenses. A benefit for a specific impairment can be received only once during the claim.
  2. The injury must be stable, usually at least 12 months after the injury date, and assessed by an independent impairment assessor. The page does not describe the benefit as bringing weekly payments to an end.
  3. No section that redeems or buys out weekly payments was opened. Do not add one. Weekly payments continue or end under their own provisions, which are a separate question.
  4. Legal costs of an impairment-benefit claim are not covered by WorkSafe, unless the impairment-benefit protocols apply. The fee schedule was not opened.

The Act is in force as version 054, effective 2 October 2026. A redemption or commutation section was not found in the pages opened for this task.

If the advice is later put into a court document, the lawyer writes that document and verifies it under the practice note of the court.
