- How AI is used
- Extract employee counts by site, union or collective agreements, and change-of-control employment clauses from the documents the lawyer identifies. Flag sites the lawyer has marked for a possible closing or layoff. Write no employee notice.
- What the lawyer must review
- 29 U.S.C. § 2102 says an employer must not order a plant closing or mass layoff until 60 days after written notice to the employees' representative, or the employees, and to the state dislocated-worker unit and the local government. The section contains exceptions, including a faltering company, unforeseeable business circumstances and natural disaster, and those exceptions have their own conditions. You decide whether the statute or a state notice statute applies, and who must give notice. The tool's headcount is not that decision. Verify the extract under Opinion 512.
