Triage incoming legal requests into a sorted intake list
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Sort each request by the business unit, the contract or dispute named, and the date a response is asked for. Do not rank legal risk and do not give advice.
- What the lawyer must review
- Model Rule 1.1 requires the legal knowledge, skill, thoroughness and preparation reasonably necessary for the representation. Rule 5.1 requires a lawyer with managerial authority to have measures giving reasonable assurance that the firm's lawyers conform to the rules. Formal Opinion 512: the amount of review depends on the tool and the task, and a tool does not replace the lawyer's judgment. The lawyer sets the intake categories and checks any request the list marks as urgent. Run the conflicts check under the admitting state's rules. Do not put confidential matter information into a public tool (Rule 1.6).
