Screen a counterparty against the OFAC sanctions lists
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Match the counterparty's names against the current OFAC SDN file and the consolidated sanctions list, using the match rules the lawyer has set. Queue every hit. Clear nothing.
- What the lawyer must review
- OFAC publishes the Specially Designated Nationals list. Their assets are blocked and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from dealing with them. OFAC also publishes a consolidated sanctions list of non-SDN entries and separate programs. A hit is not itself a legal conclusion. The lawyer opens the relevant program before the business refuses a dealing or allows one. The list changes. Use the file current on the day of the search.
