Build a regulatory-change digest from items the lawyer supplies
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Turn the items the lawyer pastes into a digest with the citation, the date, and the business unit the lawyer names. Do not add a legal change the lawyer did not supply and do not state what the business must do.
- What the lawyer must review
- ABA Model Rule 1.1 requires the lawyer to provide the legal knowledge and preparation reasonably necessary before a change is described to the business. ABA Formal Opinion 512 (29 July 2024) leaves the lawyer responsible for text produced with a generative tool. The digest is an arrangement of items the lawyer has already selected. It is not a search for new law and it is not advice. The lawyer decides what, if anything, is sent to the business.
