Summarise only the passages marked in OMB M-25-22
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Summarise only the passages of OMB Memorandum M-25-22 that the lawyer marks. Keep each point tied to the section the lawyer marked. Do not add a requirement from an unmarked section.
- What the lawyer must review
- The paper is a summary of a government memorandum, not a contract and not advice that a clause is required. OMB Memorandum M-25-22 (April 3, 2025) is guidance to federal agencies on acquisition of artificial intelligence. It rescinds and replaces M-24-18. Its scope section states who is covered, what an AI system includes, the common-commercial-product exception, the matters the memorandum does not govern, and the 180-day application to new solicitations and to options. ABA Formal Opinion 512 (29 July 2024) requires the lawyer to check a generative summary before it is relied on. The lawyer checks the summary against the memorandum. The summary does not adopt a contract term.
